Located in the North Edmonton community, Griesbach lies just south of Castle Downs. This community has deep historical roots in Edmonton’s history having served as the base for the Griesbach CFB. Developed initially for military use, Griesbach has been part of our community since the 1950s.
Named after Major General William Griesbach, an acclaimed veteran, soldier and politician, named Edmonton’s mayor in 1907. The area started to redevelop completely once the military base moved.
The neighbourhood evolved quickly and moved from its historic military past into a new and contemporary residential and family-friendly zone, where many new residents and families indulge in a peaceful and friendly community.
The New Griesbach
The neighbourhood started changing since the ’50s, proper planning and redeveloping of the area began around the year 2000, and it has continued until the present day. One of the reasons for the popularity of this community with homebuyers is the variety of its newly built home options.
