Ritchie is a smaller neighbourhood, located southeast of the Downtown core. Considered part of the Strathcona zone, it is mostly a residential area. This doesn’t mean that it is dull at all! This lively area offers a great lifestyle, along with a fun and lively nightlife as well as many great activities.<\/p>\n

The name comes from Robert Ritchie, who was the mayor of the town of Strathcona during the late 1890s. The famous “Ritchie Mill” named after the same character still stands at Saskatchewan Drive, just 10 minutes north from the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

This neighbourhood boost with a lot of historical background. The development of the area started in the late 1890s. A quarter of the houses were also built before the end of WWII, yet many of them have stood and they have also been renovated in recent years.<\/p>\n

Some other fantastic features residents of Ritchie enjoy are the closeness and convenience to schools (Escuela Mill Creek School<\/a>, \u00c9cole Joseph-Moreau<\/a>), shops, amenities and especially the closeness to Downtown Edmonton – just 10 minutes away!<\/p>\n
